A book of the Bible I've been reading a lot lately is Psalms; with all the raw emotion and beautiful language it's honestly one of my favorite books. Merriam-Webster defines psalm as "a sacred song or poem used in worship." Worship is more than just the songs we sing, it is anything that gives or ascribes worth to God. In this series, I want to share some of my own "psalms," if you will; I want to share on a more consistent basis the poems I've written on the Race (and maybe even a few from before the Race), spiritual poems that have become an expression of worship for me. Without further ado, here is the first of (hopefully) many poems:

                                        These lies have filled me,

                                        Been my substance, my all,

                                        For far too long.

Now it is time to change

                                        My tune, sing the words

                                        To a brand new song.

                                        Beautiful, enough, desired,

                                        This is now my anthem

                                        To Him whom I belong.

                                        (written on 9/23/20)

I wrote this during a time of learning how God sees me, not as something too broken or ugly to look at, not some responsibility He has because He made me, but as something beautiful that He made, a person He loves infinitely and wants to know deeply and intimately. He's still teaching me things about this, like where physical beauty fits in, and what it means to be enough for Him but still be deeply dependent on Him; but this is one of my first steps towards a more complete picture of myself and Him

Thanks for reading!!! Love you bunches,

  Claire
