Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There!

A lot of the time on the Race you experience the “hurry up and wait” phenomenon: you rush to get going and get to ministry and then you wait anywhere from thirty to sixty (or more) minutes for your ministry host. It can feel pretty annoying, trying to be punctual and then finding out you didn’t need to be, but I think ultimately it’s been good for us.

For one thing, it is kind of nice to have a chill period between getting to ministry and actually starting. We also have some really good conversations during that time, growing as a team and learning more about each other. But we also get to experience in a practical way the waiting He has for us.

The Lord tends to work like that; He tells you where to go or gives you a vision or a promise and then tells you to wait. It can be difficult, like, You just told me this would happen but You won’t tell me when or where or how? How frustrating that is! And yet how beautiful that He teaches how to wait on Him and His timing; as the song goes, “so much better Your way. . .this way.” The way He gives us isn’t the obvious one, or the efficient one, or the safe one, but it is the good option, the best one. He isn’t a tame lion, after all.

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

  Claire
