For a long time, I wondered what it would be like to hear God’s voice. I know I heard God speaking into a situation in my life last summer, but I didn’t know what it would be like to be able to hear Him all the time. “What does He sound like?” was my thought.

This last week, I continually heard God’s voice and had it confirmed in surprising ways. During a time with my squad mentor Kate and team leader Emalani, He confirmed an image of standing with Him in a field of flowers, and His identity as a protector. Another time, I asked Him for a word for the day, and He said “Daisy.” Kinda weird, I thought, but okay; later that day, while on a hike, I found one singular daisy on the path. There wasn’t a single daisy anywhere else, but there was one.

What was the common denominator in these instances? Asking. Sometimes we don’t hear because we don’t ask. Have you ever asked God a question and really stopped to listen for the answer? What did He say?

Bonus poem:

If the wind whispers Your praises,

So will I.

If the daisies declare Your glory,

So will I.

If the skies sing Your goodness,

So will I.

If the mountains bow down,

So will I.

If the butterflies dance for You,

So will I.

If Your sheep follow Your voice,

So will I.

Let nothing I do be done for anyone else,

Let nothing I do be done without You.
